Heart Valve Replacement Surgery: CoreValve TAVI Clinical Trial Video - El Camino Innovates
A new surgical innovation, CoreValve®, offers an approach to heart valve surgery that enables surgeons to replace damaged heart valves by going through a small incision in the skin rather than opening the chest to replace the valve. Heart valve replacement is made necessary when aortic stenosis occurs, a condition that occurs due to narrowing of the aortic valve.
Eliminating the need for heart valve surgery is particularly good news for a third of all candidates who are not able to withstand conventional open heart surgery. This video presents the new CoreValve® approach to heart valve surgery. CoreValve® is an investigational device and is not yet approved by the FDA.
Spend a few minutes in this video with Dr. James Joye, FACC Director of Research and Education, Heart & Vascular Institute at El Camino Hospital, learning about the Core Valve clinical trial that offers an innovative way new heart valve replacement surgery.
