"Our support for clinical research at the Fogarty Institute will help the hospital attract and retain outstanding and innovative physicians."

Overview
Streamlining the process for clinical research
Clinical research is a vital step in the advancement of novel treatment options, yet the typical path for research in an academic setting is often circuitous and slow moving. Thanks to a generous $4 million contribution from Los Altos Hills residents Edward and Pamela Taft, we opened the Taft Center for Clinical Research in March of 2011. The Taft’s gift was given with their expressed desire to create a community hospital-based setting for important clinical research in heart disease and cancer. Their support funded the infrastructure and staff that enables us to offer a multi-disciplinary environment and provide an efficient alternative in which to cultivate local, original clinical investigation. In funding research services for both industry-sponsored and innovator-initiated trials, the Tafts have made a significant difference in the health of our community.
The Taft Center is a separate entity contained within the nonprofit Fogarty Institute for Innovation, and within the Taft Center facility trials are managed by Fogarty Clinical Research. Inc. (FCRI).
The staff at the Taft Center is experienced and highly skilled, with many years of previous experience at a successful clinical trial management organization. Their expertise and proven process have enabled the Taft Center to rapidly undertake management of several significant trials.
